People rarely leave Instantly over deliverability. They leave over the bill, because sending, data credits and CRM are three separate products.
Key takeaways
- The advertised entry price is $47 a month for Outreach, but the working configuration that includes a lead database starts at $94, because credits are a second subscription.
- Computed from Instantly's own credit tiers, the Hyper plan costs slightly more per credit than Supersonic, about $0.0197 against $0.0194, so the biggest credit pack is not the cheapest per unit.
- The $555 a month figure circulating in 2026 is not a plan. It is Light Speed Outreach at $358 plus Hyper credits at $197, the power-sender configuration.
- Instantly's own pricing page showed two different Hypergrowth send limits on September 9, 2026, 125,000 on the plan card and 100,000 in the feature comparison table on the same page.
- Unibox, the unified reply inbox, starts at Hypergrowth, so the cheapest plan that consolidates replies costs $97 a month rather than $47.
What follows is organised by the complaint rather than by the tool, because the right replacement depends entirely on which of these is hurting.
What do people actually complain about?
The credit system, consistently. Across 2026 analyses the recurring finding is that the credit meter is the single most documented complaint about Instantly, ahead of anything to do with features or sending quality. The mechanism is simple. Outreach pays for sending. Credits pay for SuperSearch, enrichment, verification and the AI agents. CRM is a third line. Third-party breakdowns put the typical full stack at $120 to $180 a month, with one analysis reporting $131 to about $220.
Here is what each complaint costs, and what fixes it.
| Complaint | What it costs you on Instantly | Tools that fix it | Entry price of the fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| The bill is three bills | $47 advertised becomes $94 minimum with data | Freelvy, Saleshandy, lemlist Email | €49, $25, $69 |
| Credits meter separately from sending | A second subscription that can run out mid-month | Freelvy, Smartlead, Woodpecker, QuickMail | €49, $39, $29, $9 |
| The unified reply inbox is gated | $97 a month instead of $47 for Unibox | Smartlead, Saleshandy, QuickMail | $39, $25, $9 |
| Email only, no LinkedIn or phone steps | A second tool for other channels | lemlist Multichannel, Reply.io | $109/user, about $79/user |
| Record counts are vendor claims | An unmeasured database you paid for | Any tool, after your own coverage test | Cost of the test |
Freelvy, when finding, verifying and sending should be one plan
Freelvy is our product, an AI sales platform. You use it the way you use ChatGPT or Claude.
Best for a team that wants verified contacts, a written sequence and the sending on one plan, from one description of the customer, rather than a sender plus a separate credit subscription. Strengths. You describe the customer you want in one prompt, and the agent searches 40+ live sources at query time instead of filtering a stored database. Every row is enriched with verified contacts, through six email providers in cascade and nine phone providers, and a row that fails verification is never delivered and never billed. It then writes and sequences the outreach in the same thread. The sequencer is unlimited on every plan and sends from your own Google or Microsoft mailbox, so sending is not billed per email. Credits pay for finding and verifying contacts and for writing sequences, with one charge per sequence, and as a rule of thumb one verified email is 3 credits. Team members are unlimited on every plan, with no per-seat pricing. Price. Starter is €49 a month for 1,500 credits, Pro is €179 for 6,000 and Max is €499 for 18,000. Free 7-day trial, no credit card, at freelvy.com.
Complaint 1: the advertised price is not the working price
Outreach on its own sends email to a list you already own. Growth is $47 a month, Hypergrowth $97 and Light Speed $358, read on the official pricing page on September 9, 2026. If you need to find contacts too, credits are a separate purchase, and the official help centre lists them at Nano $9 for 150, Growth $47 for 1,500, Supersonic $97 for 5,000 and Hyper $197 for 10,000.
Three real configurations, with our own arithmetic on those official prices.
| Configuration | Outreach | Credits | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo, finding and sending | Growth $47 | Growth $47 | $94 |
| Small team, moderate enrichment | Hypergrowth $97 | Supersonic $97 | $194 |
| Agency or power sender | Light Speed $358 | Hyper $197 | $555 |
That third line is worth naming, because "$555 a month" circulates in 2026 as though it were a published tier. Analyses describe it as the power-sender setup, Light Speed plus Hyper credits, and one source calls it an Agency plan at $555 monthly or $500 annual. Either way it is a configuration, not a plan card.
What fixes it. A flat tool that bundles data and sending on one invoice. Saleshandy Outreach Pro is reported at $69 a month for 30,000 prospects and 150,000 emails, with a claimed 852M-record database and 75+ filters, per 2026 comparisons. lemlist's flat Email plan is reported at $69 with unlimited users, 50,000 emails and a 650M-record database. Both are one line on the card instead of two.
Complaint 2: the biggest credit pack is not the cheapest
This is the finding we did not expect. Divide each credit tier by its credits and the cost per credit does not fall monotonically.
| Credit plan | Price | Credits | Cost per credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | $9 | 150 | $0.0600 |
| Growth | $47 | 1,500 | $0.0313 |
| Supersonic | $97 | 5,000 | $0.0194 |
| Hyper | $197 | 10,000 | $0.0197 |
Supersonic is the efficiency point. Hyper doubles your credits and costs about 1.5 percent more per credit, so the only reason to buy it is the volume itself, never the unit price. Anyone buying Hyper for the discount is buying a discount that is not there. The same pattern shows up elsewhere in the category, and we found it on Clay's two-meter system too.
What fixes it. Either a tool with no data meter at all, or one where the meter only charges for a result that passed verification. Smartlead is reported at $39 for Base, $94 for Pro, $174 for Unlimited Smart and $379 for Unlimited Prime with 17 percent off annually, per concordant 2026 analyses. It has no data layer, so you pay a contact source separately, but the sending bill stops surprising you.
Complaint 3: the reply inbox is behind the second tier
Unibox consolidates replies from every sending account into one view, and 2026 analyses confirm it starts at Hypergrowth, which matches the feature table on the official page as read on September 9, 2026. If you run six mailboxes on the $47 plan, you check six inboxes.
This matters more as mailbox count rises, and mailbox count rises because deliverability requires it. Our deliverability checklist sets out why practitioners cap a warmed mailbox at 20 to 50 messages a day, which is what pushes a serious sender onto several mailboxes in the first place.
What fixes it. QuickMail includes unlimited team members on every plan and free warmup, with Basic at $9 a month for 3,000 emails and Pro at $99 for 100,000 emails and 30,000 prospects, according to a 2026 pricing guide. Smartlead's higher tiers carry unlimited mailboxes with warmup built in. Both put mailbox consolidation nearer the entry level.
Complaint 4: it is an email tool
Instantly is very good at email at scale and does not pretend otherwise. Head-to-head comparisons put it plainly: Instantly prices sending capacity per workspace while lemlist prices headcount, and lemlist is the one that adds LinkedIn and phone steps.
What fixes it. lemlist Multichannel is reported at $109 per user per month, $87 annual, adding LinkedIn, calls, WhatsApp and landing pages with five senders per user. Reply.io is reported around $59 per user per month annual and about $79 monthly, with conditional sequences across email, LinkedIn, calls, SMS and WhatsApp, per 2026 breakdowns. Both bill per head, which is the trade. Our lemlist alternatives comparison computes what that does to a bill at ten users.
Complaint 5: the record count is not coverage
Instantly advertises 450M+ contacts through SuperSearch with waterfall enrichment. Saleshandy advertises 852M+. lemlist advertises 650M+. None of the 2026 sources we read tested any of these, and one 2026 analysis notes that leading providers claim 360M+ companies globally with 95 percent-plus accuracy while the same analyses describe a persistent quality gap.
What fixes it. Nothing you can buy sight unseen. Take twenty companies you already know you want, run them through any trial, and count how many the tool can produce and enrich. That number is your coverage. The marketed record count is not.
The alternatives, in the standard format
Smartlead
Best for agencies and teams running many domains and mailboxes. Strengths. Per workspace rather than per seat, the cheapest sender at comparable volume, unlimited mailboxes with warmup on higher tiers. Limits. No data layer, so a contact source bills separately. Inbox placement testing is billed apart, $49 to $599 a month, so the serious-sender setup costs more than the plan price. Price. $39 to $379 a month.
Saleshandy
Best for a team that wants sending and contacts on one flat invoice. Strengths. Pro at $69 for 30,000 prospects and 150,000 emails works out at roughly $0.46 per thousand emails, the cheapest we computed in this category. Flat, not per seat. Limits. The 852M-record claim is a vendor figure repeated by third parties, never a coverage test. Price. $25 to $209 a month.
lemlist
Best for senders whose reply rate depends on visual personalization, or who need LinkedIn and phone in the same sequence. Strengths. The flat Email plan carries unlimited users. Personalization is widely rated the most polished in the category. Limits. Multichannel is per user, so a team of five pays $435 a month on annual billing. Two families of 2026 sources disagree on the current entry tier. Price. $69 flat for Email, $109 per user for Multichannel.
Woodpecker
Best for long sequences to small, carefully chosen lists. Strengths. Meters new prospects contacted rather than emails sent, and follow-ups to an existing prospect do not count. A six-touch sequence costs what a one-touch send costs. Limits. Punishes large lists with few touches, about $2.33 per thousand emails on Growth. Nothing between Scale at $188 and Max at $9,999. Price. $29 to $188 a month on the working tiers.
QuickMail
Best for a solo sender who wants warmup included and no per-seat cost later. Strengths. Basic at $9, unlimited team members on every plan, warmup included rather than sold separately. Limits. Elevenfold jump from Basic to Pro with nothing between. One secondary source only, so the least confirmed grid here. Price. $9 to $299 a month.
Reply.io
Best for sequences that must branch on behaviour. Strengths. Conditional multichannel sequences, and a free plan so evaluation precedes payment. Limits. Per seat, so it does not solve a headcount-linked bill. Reported prices vary by source and tier. Price. About $59 to $79 per user per month.
Who should stay on Instantly
Anyone whose brief is volume. If you run many sending domains, spin up new ones regularly and treat the lead database as optional, Instantly at $47 or $97 per workspace is hard to beat, and nothing in this list handles domain scale better. The credit complaint only bites if you rely on SuperSearch for data. Buy Outreach alone, bring your own list, and the three-invoice problem disappears.
If you are comparing it against the other most searched sender, our lemlist and Instantly head-to-head works through four situations. For the wider view including the data side, see our roundup of AI prospecting tools.
How we verified these numbers
Research for this article ran on September 20, 2026, with WebFetch blocked by the network egress policy on every domain, so no page was rendered today. Instantly's Outreach tiers and the Unibox gating come from the official pricing page read in a browser on September 9, 2026, and the credit tiers from Instantly's official help centre article dated July 17, 2026. Every competitor price comes from 2026 third-party analyses cited inline, with at least two concordant sources per tool except QuickMail.
All cost-per-credit figures, the three configuration totals and the cost per thousand emails are our own arithmetic on those prices. We could not re-confirm the Hypergrowth send limit today, and we are repeating the inconsistency we recorded on September 9, 2026, when the plan card said 125,000 and the comparison table on the same page said 100,000. One 2026 secondary source reports Light Speed as unlimited, which contradicts the official page, and we have not used it.
FAQ
How much does Instantly really cost per month?
Outreach alone is $47, $97 or $358 a month by tier. The configuration most people actually need, sending plus a lead database, starts at $94 because credits are a separate subscription, and third-party breakdowns put a typical full stack at $120 to $180 a month.
What is the cheapest Instantly alternative?
QuickMail Basic at $9 a month is the lowest entry price, but with one sending address it is a test tier. For a working setup, Saleshandy Starter at $25 and Woodpecker Starter at $29 are the cheapest credible options, and Saleshandy is the only one of the three that includes a contact database.
Do Instantly credits roll over?
The official help centre describes credits as a monthly allowance tied to a credit plan, and no rollover is documented in the 2026 analyses we read. Treat unused credits as expiring with the cycle and size the credit plan to your steady-state usage rather than your busiest month.
Which alternative has the unified inbox on the entry plan?
Smartlead, Saleshandy and QuickMail all put mailbox consolidation nearer the entry level than Instantly, where Unibox begins at Hypergrowth for $97 a month. If you run several mailboxes, this single feature can decide the comparison, because checking six inboxes by hand does not scale.
Is Smartlead cheaper than Instantly?
At comparable sending volume, usually yes, because both bill per workspace and Smartlead's tiers start lower. The caveat is the separate inbox placement testing line at $49 to $599 a month, and the fact that Smartlead has no contact database, so a data source is a second invoice either way.
Can I keep Instantly and fix the credit problem?
Yes, by buying Outreach only and sourcing contacts elsewhere. That turns Instantly into a pure sender at $47 to $358 per workspace, which is what it is best at, and moves the data decision to a tool you choose on coverage rather than on bundling.
How do I test whether an alternative covers my market?
Pick twenty companies you already know you want to reach, ideally including owner-run and recently founded ones. Run them through the trial and count how many the tool returns with a verified contact. That hit rate is your coverage. Published record counts tell you nothing about your own segment.
